Working Out Can Be Fun

No, really. It’s true! Unless you’re a real work out junkie it can be difficult to find a routine and stick to it. However, why not make the most of being at university and join one of the hundreds of societies that would give you a weekly fix of physical exertion. Alternatively, you could try some of these and see what a difference it makes when you don’t loath the process of exercise.
1 Skateboarding
Cheap, sociable and environmentally friendly, it’s a great lower body/ core strength workout which will help you burn calories. Baggy jeans and converse are optional.
2 DDR
Sometimes it’s fun to pretend you’re 12 again and go down the arcade with a stack of 10 pence pieces although you can also get add-ons for PS3, Xbox & Wii.
3 Wii
Whilst it may be one of the more expensive options, these games are a great and sociable way to get some exercise. Wii Fit also includes aerobics and yoga games.
4 Zumba
Zumba is an aerobic and dance work out set to latin music. It doesn’t feel like a work out, more like a night out on the dance floor. Plus you’re more likely to remember it the next day.
5 Capoeira
This is an Afro-Brazilian form of defence masquerading as a dance. It combines kickboxing, groundwork, dance and acrobatics - just like in that old BBC ident.
6 Nia
Nia is rather more ‘new-age’ as fitness goes, but interesting none the less. Combining elements from tai chi, tae kwon do, jazz, and yoga it aims to heal body, mind & spirit.
