The Sandwich Review

Author:

This is a report on the consumption of the Marks and Spencers chicken triple sandwich, a sandwich that up until now has daunted me with its size. This meal fit for a king comprises of three sandwiches; chicken and stuffing, chicken salad and chicken and bacon. It is in this order that I shall be tackling this culinary masterpiece.

Let me start the journey with the packet which, may I say, does not seem to be designed for three sandwiches. The central opening of the packet makes it hard to reach the sandwiches on either side and gives the consumer a mental challenge before being rewarded with the taste sensation that is the chicken and stuffing sandwich.

The first bite of said sandwich filled me with memories of Christmas, due to the stuffing. On the whole the sandwich was satisfying and exceeded my expectations as other supermarket brands (Sainsburys) produce a chicken and stuffing sandwich that can be far too moist, with stuffing that has a mass produced look and taste to it. Marks and Spencer riskily chose to serve the sandwich with malted bread. Not my favourite of the bread options as it's drier than its counterparts. Never the less I wolfed down this sandwich and moved on to the next.

The chicken salad. I had initial prejudice towards this sandwich as its title contains the word "salad", a side order I am not a fan of nor a regular consumer of. The taste of cucumber is overwhelming in this sandwich, and is followed by the spicy mayonnaise. The chicken is overpowered by its fellow fillings and this disappointed me. However, you shouldn't think i didn't enjoy this sandwich, as the bread was perfect and at the end of the day, it was made by Marks and Spencer, so it'll always please.

After this sandwich one would be forgiven for presuming i am getting quite full at this point. But no, i still have room for my final act; the chicken and bacon. I have high hopes for this sandwich.

It is a usual occurrence in life, that one hypes something up only to be disappointed. I wouldn't say I had been let down by this snack, but my first bite was difficult and resulted in me having to pull a piece of bacon out as I couldn't cut through it. After this incident however, the mastication went without drama; the sandwich had a similar spicy tang, mentioned previously, and the pieces of chicken were of the high quality I expected.

After eating this marathon meal I can confirm that I am nicely filled up, just like the sandwiches. My initial fear of not being able to complete my challenge was necessary, as I would not advise anyone just to dive in unprepared without the mental preparation I went through. Of the 630 calories I feasted on, I can say that my favorite memory was of the chicken salad. This may come as a surprise to you, but this was the sandwich which exceeded my expectations the most and used the white bread that I have had dreams about. Marks and Spencer have really outdone themselves this time and I might go as far to say that this sandwich rivals "the club" sandwich they produce, my absolute favorite.

In summary I would give this sandwich nine out of ten, for its size and taste diversity. Thank you for reading and I hope you are more informed than at the start of this ground breaking report.
